Welcome to Springfield and Hunterdon Publishing, the publishing house of the Newark Fire Department Oral History Project.

Goal of the Project:

Begun in June 1991, the goal of the Newark Fire Department Oral History Project is to record the views and experiences of members of the Newark, New Jersey Fire Department. The period of focus is 1942 to the present.  Some of the topics discussed are growing up in Newark, becoming a fireman, everyday life in the firehouse, and experiences on the fire scene.

Springfield and Hunterdon Publishing was started for the sole purpose of preserving the experiences of Newark's bravest and through them the history of the Newark Fire Department by publishing works based on the Oral History Project.
